About this place
Higawa’s small horse mackerel is fried twice at high heat, then served with Tosazu vinegar enriched with dashi. The menu describes the dish as a quick, nanbanzuke-style marinade. Some diners say they particularly enjoyed it, making it a good option to order alongside sashimi and other snacks with drinks.
For fish, try the seasonal sashimi platter, which may include bonito, white fish, oily fish, octopus and squid. The menu says a single-person serving, with one piece of each, is also available. One diner even remembered the wakame served alongside the sashimi. For a more casual snack, there is a platter of sweet potato and three kinds of potato, served as fries. Pair it with a fish dish to sample a little of several things.
The sake list is broad, offering plenty of ways to find a pour to go with the fish. It includes Iwate’s Hidaka, recommended on the menu with fish, as well as bottles described as suitable for room temperature or warming. One customer said they were able to discuss the ideal serving temperature for different sakes, so it may be worth sharing your preference when choosing. Dinner reservations are available and recommended. Try the fried horse mackerel or sashimi with a sake that suits your taste.
